To Gouache or Not to Gouache

What exactly is Gouache? Are you familiar with watercolors? Are you familiar with acrylics? If so, Gouache is like the child of the marriage between watercolors and acrylics.

Gouache can reactivate like watercolors. You can add more water to get it to behave like watercolors in the realm of transparency.

However, if you use it straight from the tube and just add a touch water, it is thick and opaque, much like acrylics.

I don't use gouache that often. Then I learned that you can use gouache in thick "pats" on the page, yet you can layer it better than acrylics, because it does reactivate. It creates a fun texture appearance and is easy to adjust if you want to change the color or tint.

Thumbs up for this technique and medium. It took a while to complete this, because I used a very small brush and the beginning of this project definitely stayed in the "ugly" phase for a while. That said, I'm willing to try this again!
